The Monson Center is the westernmost developmental center now operated by DDS. It has specialized in supporting people with seizure disorders and epilepsy as well as mental retardation. Many residents have moved out to community placements in recent years, but those remaining don't want to leave and it will not be safe or positive to move them. Governor Patrick's plan calls for closing the Monson Center in 2013.
